Cleveland Ballet’s October Performances Have a Macabre Edge

Fri 10/18 @ 7PM

Sat 10/19 @ 1 & 7PM

Sat 10/19 @ 9-11:30PM

Even the Cleveland Ballet is presenting a program intended to tie into the Halloween season, with a pair of edgy pieces.

Dracula, choreographed by Lynne Taylor-Corbett, is based on the Bram Stoker vampire classic, while The Masque of the Red Death, choreographed by Robert Weiss, takes off from the famous Edgar Allan Poe short story about a prince trying to evade a plague during a masquerade ball. The Cleveland Pops Orchestra, directed by Carl Topilow, will be accompanying the dancers with live music.

The three performances take place at the Mimi Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square. Saturday night’s performance is followed by an afterparty called Dracula in Two Bites, taking place at playhouse Square’s Hofbräuhaus from 9-11:30pm. Tickets to that can be purchased separately; you don’t have to attend the performance to go to the party.
