Bluegrass Musicians Perform in Gallery with Art Exhibit on Appalachia

Sat 10/12 @ 8-9PM

The current show at Artists Archives of the Western Reserve is called The Beauty and Influence of Appalachia. It looks at the region, currently in the news thanks to the catastrophic damage left by Hurricane Helen and Ohio Senator JD Vance’s condescending take on the region, in all its diversity, beauty and strain.

This weekend, in conjunction with the show, Artists Archives is offering a free bluegrass-style concert focusing on one of the region’s main contributions to American music. It will feature the duo of clawhammer-style banjo player Mark Olitsky from Cleveland and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Cary Moskowitz from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Both have more than four decades of performing experience, and have played together frequently including on albums such as 2017’s Duets and 2023’s Pretty Little Cats: Duets Two.

Register to attend the concert here. It takes place at AAWR gallery where you can check out the exhibition at the same time.
