Bike Cleveland Takes Riders in Search of Bigfoot in Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Sat 10/19 @ 5:30-8:30PM

Bike Cleveland, the nonprofit that advocates for safer streets designed for all, not just cars, promotes a variety of educational and recreational events, is doing something a little offbeat this weekend. To celebrate National Sasquatch Awareness Day (who knew there was such a day? I didn’t!), they’re leading BELIEVE: The Bigfoot Ride “to raise awareness of the elusive creature’s [alleged]presence in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.” They claim “Even though most folks think their main habitat is located in the Pacific Northwest — after joining us on this adventure — you may begin to believe otherwise.”

This is probably tongue in cheek — any excuse for an interesting bike ride — but you never know! When you register you can choose to ride out and back (they’re calling those riders “skeptics” or camp overnight at halfway and come back in the morning (“believers.”)

The group will meet at the Station Road Bridge Trailhead at 5:30 before rolling out at 6pm for a ride of about 7 ½ miles on the Towpath Trailway with occasional stops to mark [alleged] eyewitness sightings. “Skeptics” will ride the same path back while “Believers” will ride another mile to the camp and return to the starting point in the morning “with the hope that they make it through the night.”

Find more details and register for the ride here. Hope everyone returns!
