The next series of concerts by Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s baroque orchestra, will feature some very well-known and popular pieces of music: J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. Apollo’s Fire’s founding artistic director Jeannette Sorrell will lead the orchestra in performances of the second, third, fourth and sixth concertos, with violinist (and AF assistant artistic director) Alan Choo featured in the fourth and guest trumpet player Caleb Hudson of the Canadian Brass in the second.
They’ll perform on Friday October 18 and Saturday October 18 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights; at First United Methodist Church on Akron on Sunday October 20; at Case Western Reserve University’s Harkness Chapel on Monday October 21 (where they will play Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 in place of the Brandenburg No. 2); and at Rocky River Presbyterian Church on Tuesday October 22.
Choo and gamba player Sarah Stone will do a pre-concert talk an hour prior to each performance.
