Sat 9/7 @ 1PM
It was natural to think that any event that hadn’t returned post-pandemic by last year was a COVID casualty. But a few events surprised us. One was the Cleveland Vegan Society’s VegFest in June. Another is the long-running Studio-A-Rama (2019 was year 38) hosted by Case Western Reserve University radio station WRUW 91.1, which returns to the Mather Memorial Courtyard behind the station’s studio this weekend.
For its 39th iteration it will follow its longstanding formula of bringing in a couple of touring indie rockers to headline and a batch of local/regional artists to keep things going all day. Things kick off at 1:45pm with the Super Babes, followed by Honolulu High at 2:30, C-Level at 3:15, Nature at 4, Brood X at 4:45, RRRIOT@ at 5:30, Muamin Collective at 6, Suitor at 7, Perfect Pals at 7:45 and Grumpy Plum at 8:30. Shadow Show, a garage/psychdelia-influenced power trio from Detroit, takes over at 9:15, and at 10pm Los Angelinos Cheekface, another trio, wrap things up with their punk/power pop.
There’ll be food trucks rolling up to the site all day, but you’ll also welcome to bring a picnic — no glass bottles and alcoholic beverages please. You can also head over to The Jolly Scholar around the corner on Euclid Avenue for a bite; the festival will be livestreaming there. You can also watch on YouTube or listen to the livestream on the station. Studio-A-Rama is free and family-friendly.
