World-Class Cleveland Percussionist Jamey Haddad Returns to the BOP STOP

Thu 9/19-Fri 9/20 @ 7PM

Jazz/global music drummer/percussionist Jamey Haddad became interested in percussion instruments from around the world as a child growing up in Cleveland. He left the area to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston (where he later became a professor) and then settled in New York to built a career that has included more than two decades as a member of Paul Simon’s touring band and playing on hundreds of albums by an array of musicians in a variety of genres, from Yo-Yo Ma to Sting to fellow Cleveland native Joe Lovano (who is in town this week performing with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.) He moved back to town in the early ’00s to join the faculty at Oberlin Conservatory, while continuing his international career as well as collaborating with some of this area’s world-class jazz musicians.

Haddad performs periodically at the BOP STOP with many of those outstanding local artists he knows. This week he’ll be doing two shows with a trio that also features bassist Kip Reed and Venezuelan pianist Leo Blanco, two musicians he’s performed with frequently. In addition, they’ll be joined by trombone player/vocalist Jay Ashby and percussionist Patrick Granby.

Get tickets here for night 1 and here for night 2.
