Tue 9/24 @ 7:30PM

The Cleveland Chamber Music Society’s 2024-25 season kicks off this week with the massed vocal power of the San Francisco-based male ensemble Chanticleer.

Their program, which reflects the group’s embrace of music from the Renaissance to contemporary, is called “Music of a Silent World,” comprising songs that speak in the voices of rocks and rivers, trees and other manifestations of the natural world. Its centerpiece is Majel Connery’s “The Rivers Are Our Brothers.” It also features music by William Byrd, Heinrich Isaac, Robert Schumann, Tom Petty (a new arrangement of “Wildflowers” and a new commission by Chanticleer’s composer in residence Ayanna Woods.

It takes place at the Cultural Arts Center at Disciples Church, 3663 Mayfield Road, in Cleveland Heights. There’s a pre-concert lecture at 6:30 presented by David Rothenberg.
