Rid-All Farm’s Fresh Fest Showcases Food, Music, Art, Fun, and Healthy Eating and Living

Sat 9/14 @1-9PM

It’s the fifth year for FreshFest, a day-long event that showcases its host venue, Rid-All Green Partnership, an expansive urban farm in the Kinsman neighborhood that includes greenhouses, aquaponics, a composting facility, a community kitchen, a park and environmental and education programs. It’s an opportunity to visit the farm and explore its facilities — and much more.

One of Rid-All’s central premises is improving the health of its long-abandoned community (dubbed “The Forgotten Triangle”) with a cornerstone of healthy eating. So you’ll find a farmer’s market, all sorts of freshly prepared, local food for all palates, a variety of food trucks and chef demos and tastings. There’s also a beer garden, of course.

But there’s a dizzying array of things to check out and do. There are numerous vendors offering products of all types, organizations proffering information about their services and activities, an “art zone” with community art curated by Deep Roots Experience, and Living Room Part 1 by artists Asia Armour, Mr. Soul and Bobbi Reagans. There’s a health and wellness zone with offerings such as yoga, reiki, soundbath and tarot; there’s 3-on-3 basketball tournament as well as a court for pick-up games, an expansive playground for the kids.

Then there’s the main stage which each year features a lineup of local talent and a national headliner. This year, the headliner is influential late 80s rap star from New York, Big Daddy Kane. Locals include Zell, DJ Corey Grand, Charity Evonna, A.M. the Queen, Floco Torres and Jinari Kmet. There’s also a smaller second stage so you’ll never run out of entertainment.

On top of all that, it’s free and open to all. Go here for more info about everything going on.
