Rescue Village’s Woodstock Benefit Is Ohio’s Largest Dog Party

Sun 9/8 @ 10AM-4PM

The Geauga County Humane Society’s Rescue Village in Novelty is an amazing place, filled with community spaces for its animals, trails for dog-walking and a barn for its farm animal rescues. While it cares for and adopts out everything from hamsters to horses, its primary work is finding new homes for cats and dogs.

The nonprofit group’s biggest fundraiser, which it bills as “Ohio’s largest dog festival,” is Woofstock, taking place this weekend at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Chagrin Falls. It’s a full day of activities for you — and your dog. Registration starts at 9:30am and activities start at 10 with the blessing of the animals and welcome. (There’s a second blessing of the animals at 12:30pm).

Then it’s gogogo all day starting with the Woofstock Ramble, a costume contest, dog dock diving demos, live music, kids activities, a raffle tent, food trucks, a beer garden, an author’s booth featuring Chagrin Falls K9 mystery writer Tracy Carter and local authors Timy Sullivan and Mary Motley talking about and signing their books which of course feature dogs, and a whole bunch of contests and games for your dog including an ice cream eating contest with different size categories so your chihuahua isn’t competing with a Great Dane, a dog/owner look-alike contest, a musical sit, a retriever raffle, an agility course, and much more.

And, of yeah, of COURSE, there’s a Rescue Row where adoptable pets, hopefully including cats, will be on view and you can fill out an application to add one to your family. Go here for tickets and more information.
