Proof barbeque opened in 2020 on Tremont’s main drag Professor Avenue, under Visible Voice Bookstore and rust Pizza, where it established a following for its smoky treats. It closed that location in 2023 to prepare for a big move over to Ohio City, into the spot on Lorain long occupied by Nick’s Diner. It opened there in March of 2024, continuing to provide its made-from-scratch sauces atop ribs or smoked brisketwith signature cocktails to enhance the experience. Smash burgers, tacos, multiple sides with a southern flavor, and even a more-than-adequate number of vegetarian dishes are available. Bar is open until 1am on Friday and Saturday, kitchen serves until 11.
