Polka Parade Celebrates the Fruit of the Vine at the Slovenian Grape Fest

Sun 9/22 @ 3-7PM

Roll out the barrel — the wine barrel this time — at the SNPJ Farm in Kirtland for the annual Slovenian Grape Festival. You’ll find the pavilion decorated with grapevines and hanging treats, as the festively costumed polka parade struts in at 2:45 led by Tony Fortuna, whose orchestra will then play four hours of music for dancing.

You can take part in the parade too: wear your Slovenian costume and bring your accordion and you get free admission! Arrive by 2:15 to line up and get instructions. Joe Valencic from the Polka Hall of Fame will be passing out song sheets for a sing-along.

Food, including Slovenian sausage, roasted beef and homemade donuts will be available for purchase starting at 2pm, and if you’re not into dancing (but who isn’t?) your admission (a mere $8, 18 and under free) includes all the balinka (bocce) you can play.
