Pinwheel Gallery is a relatively new addition to the local visual art scene, in a relatively new arts neighborhood: Old Brooklyn. In its short life, it’s presented some offbeat shows and artists you probably haven’t seen in other galleries.
This month it’s opening a show called KUMESO, a solo exhibit of work by Cleveland-based, Zimbabwe native Sylvia Munodawafa. It features sculpted, painted masks inspired by her country of origin’s cultural and artistic traditions. “Come see the show and enter a world where abstraction and tradition coalesce, where every stroke and curve carries a narrative of beauty, strength, and the enduring spirit of all ancient cultures!” the gallery promises.
