Another small classical music presenting organization called CLE Concierto has popped up, presenting its debut concert called “Perspectives” this week at Forest Hill Church in Cleveland Heights. The group (most of whose members have performed with Cleveland baroque orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, and whose violinist Alan Choo is Apollo’s Fire’s assistant artist director and concertmaster) focuses on early music performed on period instruments,
Its first concert explores the music of the French baroque composer Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre (1665-1729, who was a resident composer in the court of Henry XIV, and her musical associates, with three works by Jacquet de la Guerre and one each by Michele Mascitti and Marin Marais. The performance will be enhanced by images of artwork from the era.
In addition to Choo, the quartet performing includes soprano Andréa Walker, gamba player René Schiffer, and harpsichordist QinYing Tan.
