Geneva-on-the-Lake has always been known as a town that welcomes bikers. Its shops overflow with Harley-Davison merch and it’s a rare day when you don’t see dozens of motorcycles cruising The Strip. Once their presence gave the town a slightly unsavory reputation as a place where brawls broke out and you didn’t want to bring your family, but the bikers are much older now and don’t do much brawling.
But every year for the past 17 years, they’ve gathered in GOTL the weekend after Labor Day for Thunder on the Strip, now celebrating its 18th year. The event is four days of activity including a vintage and custom bike show, the Founder’s Parade on Friday September 6, performances by the Harley-Davidson Contraband Stunt Team and the Moto Motion Motorcycles Stunt Show, a tattoo park, bike-related vendors and dozens of live music performances, plus of course the Thunder Bar Hop, a pub crawl where you can get a T-shirt for making a purchase in 16 establishments. They specify that “for those in recovery, it doesn’t have to be an alcoholic beverage.” Things have clearly gotten tamer in the biker community! It wraps on Sunday at 6pm with the 911 closing ceremonies at Sportsterz. Get complete info here.
