Traditional-style acoustic bluegrass band Full Cord comes from that noted bluegrass hub of — Michigan? Despite not having Appalachian mountain roots, the band is being touted as an up-and-comer in the scene, winning the 2022 Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition and releasing its debut album Cambium last year.
The group may be new but the players all have deep experience in the genre. Full Cord features Brian Oberlin (no relation to the northeast Ohio city) on mandolin, Eric Langejams on guitar, Todd Kirchner on bass and Grant Flick on fiddle, all of whom have decades of musical experience in numerous bands. It recently completely the lineup with Colorado banjo player Ricky Mier. The quintet will be bringing its downhome music to the rustic barn at Riverdog Retreat near — appropriately — Oberlin.
