Health-Encouraging Nonprofit Food Strong Holds Beatles-Themed Benefit

Wed 9/11 @ 6-9PM

The nonprofit Food Strong was founded in 2016 by an entrepreneurial young woman named Sara Continenza to encourage access to and consumption of more fresh local food, using it as a conduit to provide a range of services to encourage better health. It works with various partners on programs such as a mobile food stand, cooking classes, a learning garden, cleanups at the Coit Road Farmer’s Market, youth programming in the Cleveland Public Schools, a vacant lot restoration in initiative, and its Care-A-Van which offers a variety of resources at different locations and events.

This year, it’s reinvented its big annual benefit, Cornucopia. It still takes place on the Veranda at Lago Custom Events in the East Bank of the Flats, but it’s now Strawberry Fields Forever, a Beatles-themed event. It’s a full evening featuring hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert, plus dancing to popular local Beatles tribute band The Sunshine Jones, with afterparty dancing at Sora. The organization is also promising to make “some very important announcements” at the event, which its supporters should be excited to hear. Guests are encouraged to come togged out in their best mod 60s gear.
