Happy Dog Discussion Looks at “Forgotten Voters”

Wed 10/2 @ 7:30PM

In its next “Happy Dog Takes On” forum, a collaboration between the Gordon Square music venue and the city Club, the topic is “the forgotten voter.” Or maybe it should be the “discouraged” voter, as voting levels have plummeted, helping to make Ohio (apparently) no longer a “swing” state.

As each decade of partisan redistricting has become more extreme (we were warned after the 2011/12 redistricting that one more such cycle and Ohio would no longer be a functioning democracy — and that has happened) and state elected officials and the legislature have become more reckless and even boastful about disregarding the interests of Ohio citizens, many feel voting isn’t even worth it. How do we get them to feel it’s even worth it to navigate the increasing roadblocks our secretary of state is throwing in the path of voters? (Passing Issue 1 to undo gerrymandering is a good start!)

Signal Cleveland associate editor Frank Lewis will lead the discussion which is free and open to all. If you have questions text 330-541-5794.
