Fall is a great time to take a drive out in the country to see the changing colors and maybe stop at a few farmers markets. It’s also a great time to schedule a trip out to the Western Reserve Historical Society’s Hale Farm & Village in Bath for its annual Fall Harvest Festival.

Hale, which recreates a 19th-century northeast Ohio settler village, includes 32 structures as well as gardens, farm animals and costumed educators demonstrating such historic crafts and trades as blacksmithing, spinning and candle making. During Fall Frolic you can observe what such a village would’ve done to prepare for the winter, with harvesting, preparing food for storage and getting the home ready for winter. There’ll be interactive activities to take part in and most likely, fall-type foods to purchase (cider?).
