Free Chamber Concert at Praxis Gallery Includes New Piece inspired by Euclid Beach Park

Sat 9/28 @ 4PM

The local organization M.U.S.I.C. whose mission is to present up-and-coming classical musicians, both local and from around the world, in accessible chamber music concerts, is offering another concert this week, taking place at Praxis Fiber Workshop’s gallery in the Waterloo Arts District.

Titled “A Classical Cabaret in Collinwood,” it will include music by Luigi Boccherini, Ludwig van Beethoven, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Florence Price, Alfred Schnittke, and Darius Milhaud, along with a world premiere piece: a suite inspired by the former Euclid Beach Park, which was just up the street from where Praxis is now, written by composer Chris Neiner. The Schnittke music will accompany dancers from the Cleveland Ballet performing original choreography by the ballet’s artistic director, Timour Bourtasenkov. Thirteen musicians will be performing the music, and as a bonus, fiber art by M.U.S.I.C.’s artistic director Jodi Kanter will be on view in the gallery.

The concert is free. Get more information at starsintheclassics.org.
