CPT’s DarkRoom Is a Chance for Writers to Try Out Their New Work in Public

Tue 10/8 @ 6:45PM

Once a month, Cleveland Public Theatre invites writers of all types to gather at its Dark Room event, and bring up to ten pages of any work in progress — a play, novel, poem, essay — and get the chance to hear it read by actors in front of a live audience to test the response and get feedback. All work is read by whatever actors happen to show up; they get cast on the spot, so it’s all very spontaneous.

If you have some new writing to try out, get there by 6:45 to sign up. Work is first come, first serve until all slots are full. You should bring enough copies so that all actors required have one.Readings begin at 7:30. There’s also free beer, wine and snacks so your listeners should be in a relaxed and receptive mood. There’s a suggested $5 donation, but that’s optional.
