Celebrate the Monarch Butterfly at Festival in Auburn Township

Sat 9/14 @ 10AM-5PM

You may have been reading all the stories in the past decade about the disappearance of Monarch butterflies and the efforts of environmental groups to restore the population by planting more milkwood, a plant essential to their lifecycle. Come learn all about them and celebrate their beauty at the 3rd annual Monarch Festival at Jarz’s Creek Farm, 11770 Stafford Road, in Auburn Township.

The festival features live music, food and interactive exhibits to share information about why monarchs are important and what we can do to help them.  There’ll be local crafters and artists to shop, live farm animals to pet, and hands-on kids’ activities such as bracelet-making and pumpkin-painting. And you can take a hike or a wagon ride to the Monarch Waystation to observe milkweed, monarchs and pollinator plants.

You’ll definitely want to be there at 1 pm when the Monarch release happens. You can register in advance to release a Monarch yourself. It’s $5 per family/car, and leashed dogs are welcome. Go here to get tickets.
