BOP STOP’s Bryan Kennard Celebrates his 40th Birthday with a Stageful of the Area’s Best Jazz Players

Sun 9/15 @ 7-9PM

If you’re a musician, how do you celebrate a milestone birthday? For BOP STOP director (and jazz flutist and composer) Bryan Kennard it means gathering together a bunch of the area’s most outstanding jazz players at his home venue to play some of his original music and arrangements to mark his 40th birthday.

The list of 19 musicians comprising the so-called “Kennard Collective” (his first big band since he returned to the Cleveland area where he took over running the BOP STOP two years ago) reads like a who’s who of both up-and-coming and veteran musicians in the local scene. It includes five sax players (Bobby Selvaggio, Chris Coles, Brad Wagner, Chris Burge and Clint Bleil), three trumpets (Michael Dudley, Tommy Lehman and Garrett Folger), four trombones (Chris Anderson, Zach Warren, Will Horner and Amber Forrer), guitarist Dan Bruce, pianist Theron Brown, bassist Aidan Plank, drummer Anthony Taddeo, banjo player David Kennard and vocalist Grace Blackford, plus Kennard on flutes and conducting the evening.

The concert will also be livesteamed on the BOP STOP’s YouTube channel. Get tickets here.
