Bluegrass-Influenced Mandolin Player Jacob Jolliff Brings His Band to Riverdog Barn

Fri 9/20 @ 7:30PM

Mandolin player Jacob Jolliff has been on a path to a musical career since he was a preteen playing in his dad’s bluegrass gospel band. He started at Berklee College of Music in Boston on a full scholarship in 2007, where he worked on mastering jazz, bluegrass and Celtic music. He left school (he eventually went back) to perform across North America and Europe with the roots music band Joy Kills Sorrow. Soon after they went on hiatus in 2014 he was tapped by noted progressive bluegrass band Yonder Mountain String Band to replace its departed mandolin player. He spent five years and recorded three albums with that group.

Moving on he formed the Jacob Jolliff Band to play his original tunes and give him the chance to sing. He released his first album under his own name, Instrumentals Vol. 1, in 2018 while still with Yonder Mountain String Band and another one, titled simply The Jacob Jolliff Band, in 2022.

He’ll be bringing his band to Riverdog Barn to play some of that bluegrass-inflected original music. Get tickets here.
