Earlier in the day on Sat August 3, it wasn’t looking good. The rains came down hard. And then they stopped, and the sun came out, and the tents went up, and from 10am to 6pm, the people all came down to the Lakewood Arts Festival: by foot, by bike, by scooter.
And once again, the perennial winner of the Best Arts Event of the year, Lakewood Arts Festival was off and running with over 165 artists from around the region and around the world, for over 40 years running.
Few realize that money raised by the festival is dedicated to arts scholarships and arts organizations. This year, grants were awarded to Lakewood High School Barnstormers and the Photography Club, H2O (Help to Others) benefitting Lakewood middle-school students), Lakewood Catholic Academy arts programs, The Barton Center Senior arts activities, and The Beck Center for the Arts programs.
CoolCleveland’s Thomas Mulready filmed a walkthrough of the 2024 LAF to give you an idea of the art, artists and visitors who all seemed to be having the time of their lives. Featured in this video are musical performances by: Kiss Me Deadly (3:56); Maura Rogers and The Bellows (11:30); Jason Fu (22:50); Assane M’Baye Senegalese Drums (32:45); Moon Echo Garden (37:20). http://www.lakewoodartsfest.org/
