Akron Pride was in full swing last weekend, making 2024 a year to remember. Downtown came alive on Saturday Aug 24, filling up Bowery, Chuch and S Main street for the festival. View the PHOTOSTREAM here.
Local vendors, artists and even clowns showed up to support Akron’s LGBTQIA+ community. Photographer Howie Henderson was able to capture and encapsulate the vibrant event. Hair Geek Salon was one of many local businesses in Akron with a booth.
Equitas Health was on site, offering free HIV & STI testing to the public. The Showmobile Stage brought a plethora of entertainment, including Vanity Crash and their brand of glam-punk. Not all vendors boxed themselves in with a designated booth; some preferred a different method. A method which I call, the peacocking salesman.
Overall, the weather was hot and attendee spirits were high, despite the few stray and misguided protestors seeking attention. Luckily, their efforts were abandoned in the heat of the day.
