Interesting bands can come from almost anywhere these says, even Lincoln, Nebraska, the state’s unprepossessing capital city of just under 300,000 located an hour from Omaha. That’s where folk/Americana trio the Wildwoods hail from even if there aren’t “woods” of any kind there. (When I was a kid, we used to play a game of trying to spot trees in the distance in flat, empty Nebraska on our drives to Colorado).
As is typical with many such groups in this loose genre, it revolves around a husband-and-wife duo, guitarist Noah Gose and violinist Chloe Gose, joined by bassist Andrew Vaggalis. They debuted as a recording act with 2017’s Sweet Nostalgia and followed it with Birdie & Goose (2017), Across a Midwest Sky (2019) and Foxfield Saint John (2023), enabling them to reach out to a larger group of fans. From their base they’ve travelled around the world, bringing their intimate sounds to stages and festivals across the country and even abroad.
They’ll now be bringing their music to the suitably rustic setting of Lorain County’s Riverdog Barn. Make your reservation here.
