Fri 8/30 @ 7:30PM
David Wax and his wife Suz Slezak comprise folk/“Mexo-Americana” band the David Wax Museum. It released its debut album I Turned Off Thinking About in 2008; followed by seven more, mostly recently last year’s You Must Change your Life following a medical crisis in their hometown of Columbus, Missouri.
Wax’s trajectory can seem a little odd, or even suspect. after a stellar academic career at Harvard, he ended up in southern Mexico where he studied with some of the region’s folk music masters. He and Slezak joined forces after their first tour, shaping their sounds from the variety of influences they picked up in their extensive travels (now with their two children along for the ride.) An appearance at the Newport Folk Festival in 2010 put them on a lot of people’s radars, and they made the most of that opportunity.
They will be performing at Lorain County’s Riverdog Barn. Make your reservation here.
