The Legal Aid Society provides a valuable service to those whose budget doesn’t allow for them to hire a lawyer for civil matters such as tenant/landlord or work-related disputes, trying to make legal assistance accessible to all. They host regular clinics where you can learn avenues to resolve such disputes.
One of the ways you can support their “justice for all” mission is at their annual Jam for Justice, taking place at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern. There’ll be music in both rooms with ten bands, some of them featuring actual lawyers, law students, judges and law school faculty! In fact, you can even see a state Supreme Court justice when Faith & Whiskey, one of the regulars at these events, takes the ballroom stage at 8:20 as the final band of the evening with Michael Donnelly on guitar (He’s running for reelection this November so vote for him — he’s a good friend to ordinary Ohioans and not in the pocket for big-money special interests or related to the governor).
DJ Brad Wolfe will spin between sets and there’ll also be raffle prizes you can buy tickets for. Hosts for the evening are WKYC’s Stephanie Haney and Delanté Spencer Thomas, president, Norman S. Minor Bar Association.
