Labor Day weekend is when you can’t seem to turn around without running into a festival of some kind — most of them driven by food. If you’re in Akron, that means the Akron Pizza Fest downtown on West Bowery Street just outside Lock 3 (which is currently undergoing upgrades). There you’ll find an array of local pizza vendors, with pies and slices ranging from the exotic to the tried and true. Discover some new pizzerias to visit long after the festival is over. There will be plenty of other food options as well.
Come down on Friday night and at 7pm you’ll be treated to a set by Led Zeppelin tribute band Zozo, with a special guest: Akron-based, world-traveling virtuoso guitarist Neil Zaza. Saturday will be bustling with special activities including a pizza-eating contest, a cornhole tournament and pizza judging, as well as live music all day. Get all the info here.
