Holden Arboretum Celebrates First Birthday of Its Seed Bank at Cleveland Botanical Garden

Thu 8/8 @ 6-8:30PM

Every gardener/farmer knows how precious seeds are, a currency of every harvest.  And seed banks are one way that seeds are being preserved for future harvests.

Holden Arboretum’s seed bank is new as seed banks go: it’s celebrating its one-year anniversary with “A Celebration of Seeds,” taking place at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.

It kicks off with an informal social hour where you can trade tips with other growers (figured out what to do about the groundhogs yet?) and browse resource tables from various local organizations dedicated to a healthier environment including Holden Restoration Seed Bank, Meadow City Nursery, Nature in My Backyard, Cuyahoga County Master Gardeners, and Great Lakes Basin Forest Health Collaborative, among others.

At 7pm there’s a panel discussion featuring representatives Holden Seed Bank manager Kim Lessman, Sarah Eysenbach from the Cleveland Metroparks, Jessica Ausnehmer of native plant organization Wild Ones Greater Cleveland, and Kayley Obrock of Pollinator Partnership, with Diane Bickett of the Eco Speaks CLE podcast moderating. There’ll be a bar available to purchase drinks.

Tickets are $10. Get them here.
