Heavy Cleveland Trio Great Iron Snake Releases New Album to Melt Your Face

Sat 8/24 @ 8:30PM

One of the kings of Cleveland’s heavy music scene in the 1990s was crushing stoner metal band Red Giant, led by guitarist/vocalist Damien Perry. They performed sporadically into the new millennium and then in 2012, Perry formed Great Iron Snake, a power trio with two other musicians who also performed with Red Giant: bassist Brian Skinner and drummer Eric Matthews, who also performed with State of Conviction, the Spudmonsters and New York’s Pro-Pain.

The band is not only still soldering on, it’s releasing a new record this week with a show at the Beachland Tavern. They’ll be joined by North Carolina’s Evel featuring former Red Giant vocalist Alex Perekrest, and The Power Cosmic from Cleveland.  They promise it will be “a total face melting experience,” and recalling the times I heard Red Giant, I can testify they are unlikely to be lying.
