Hear the Rising Generation of Bluegrass Musicians at Riverdog Barn

Sat 8/17 @ 7:30PM

Flatpick guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Doc Watson was one of the legends and beacons of bluegrass music, with incalculable influence of subsequent generations of players and pickers in bluegrass and related genres.

One of those is Liam Purcell & Cain Mill Road, named after a road just a few miles from Watson’s native Deep Gap, North Carolina, where Purcell grew up, a young band in the bluegrass/folk scene. And band leader Purcell, who won the Rockygrass Instrumental Championships on guitar, mandolin AND banjo (whew!) and is in his early 20s, just graduated from Boston’s noted Berklee School of Music with a degree in (unsurprisingly) instrumental string music. Meanwhile the band just released its latest album, Yellow Line, a follow-up to its 2020 album Roots. Meanwhile Purcell has relocated to Nashville, now that he’s out of school, to take advantage of the city’s active music scene.

The youthful band, the next generation of bluegrass-influenced roots musicians, will be making its debut at Lorain County’s Riverdog Barn. Go here to snag tickets.
