Fri 8/30-Sun 9/1

The Grog Shop is pulling out all the stops for Labor Day weekend, with Grogapalooza, a three-day fest of music and film.

The festival actually starts at the B-Side Lounge under the Grog Shop on Friday evening, where you can warm up with a roster of rock, soul, R&B and dance bands starting at 5:30p. They include Dave Mr. Freedom Papers, Esther Fitz, Universal Funk Mob and Malan the Artist.

Saturday’s the BIG day with things getting underway at 12:30 with packed lineup of pop, emo, hip hop, alternative, metal punk and psychedelic acts. They include LoConti, already a pretty big name in the local scene, as well as a raft of newbies and less well known bands who could become one of your new favorites:  Slag Genie (a terrific quarter of melodic rockers with a prog rock vibe who opened for LoConti at the Rock Hall recently), Rent For Cheryl, Slug Fest, Freda and the Mann, Dotia, the Magnavox’s, Fungits, Mitchel Madak, Debs, Jet Star, Don Kenobi, Murr, Rellick, Noshows and the Other Guys. You’ll certainly get enough music for your money!

On Sunday September 1 at 4pm, the weekend wraps up with a screening of the fil Stalker Jane and an appearance by filmmaker Roger Glen Hill and the stars of the film. Gas Station Boner Pills, Flourish, Dotia and Noshows round out the evening.

One day is $20 or you can gwet a full weekend pass for $30, if you’ve got the stamina. Go here for tickets.
