Welcome back Main Street Kent’s annual Wizardly Weekend, a two-day feast of activities that has expanded from its original Harry Potter theme to encompass all things magical, with activities for families and kids and “adult only” events as well.
The fun starts Friday night with The Run That Shall Not Be Named “Follow the Spiders” 5 3/4 K and 1-mile fun runs. Sign up here. Then there’s the Wobbly Wizard Bar Crawl guests at the Water Street Tavern check-in point, featuring g music by Opus 216, house-colored jello shots with color-changing shot glasses, Wizardly Weekend drawstring bags, cocktail specials, and wizardly themed photo opps. Elsewhere podcasters Swish & Flick will host a meet-and-greet” at Over Easy at the Depot at 5pm, and Standing Rock Cultural Arts will screen the movie Matilda at dusk on the Hometown Bank Plaza.Magical Movie Night featuring Matilda at dusk at the Hometown Bank Plaza. And visitors can take time to browse the downtown decked in Wizardly décor or stop in one of the restaurants or bars with Wizardly items on the menu.
Saturday’s activities include at vendor village with more than 40 booths, open from 11am-6pm, offering all kinds of magical items. Swish & Flick will host a live podcast in Dan Smith Community Park at 2pm and there’ll be a costume contest for kids at noon and adults at 4pm. There’s much MUCH more, but it all wraps up at 6pm at the Bell Tower Ball at Belltower Brewing at 6pm. Get dressed up and dance the night away.
