Transformer Station Program Focuses on Groundbreaking Cleveland Ensemble Opus 216

Thu 7/18 @ 7-8:30PM

The Transformer Station’s Third Thursdays events, presented by the Cleveland Museum of Art and Ideastream, offer an evening of live local music and conversation with the performers hosted by Ideastream personalities.

For July, Ideastream’s Bill O’Connell , host of Dinner Classics, will conduct an in-depth conversation with the ubiquitous Opus 216, a flexible ensemble of area classical musicians founded more than a decade ago by violinist Ariel Clayton Karas to take classical music out of traditional venues and into clubs, galleries, storefronts, festivals, museums, sports venues — and into interaction with other musical genres that might be unwelcome in a typical concert hall.

There will be music too of course, with performers including violinists Karas and Victor Beyens, violist Brian Slata, cellists Trevor Kazarian and bassist Steven Brija. The program is free but you must make a reservation due to limited space.
