Summers at Severance Offers an Indoor Cleveland Orchestra Experience

Thu 7/25 @ 7PM

The Cleveland Orchestra’s Summers at Severance series continues for those who love the orchestra but don’t want to fight the traffic at Blossom Music Center.

This Thursday, young Czech conductor Petr Popelka, chief conductor/artistic director of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, will take the podium to lead a concert that will conclude with his countryman Anton Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6, which premiered in 1881 at the Vienna Philharmonic and combined Czech and German influences.

The program opens with Le Chasseur maudit by 19th-century French composer Cesar Franck and also features the 1945 violin concerto by Austrian/American composer Eric Wolfgang Korngold, who was well known for his extensive work composing for films. Taking the solo role in the concerto is Canadian violinist James Ehnes.
