Porthouse Theatre Presents Lighthearted, “Habit-Forming” “Nunsense”

Fri 7/5- Sun 7/13

Nunsense, the 1985 Off-Broadway smash hit musical with book, music and lyrics by Dan Goggin, has been a hit at countless small theaters and cabarets across the country, offering likeable, lightweight entertainment that keeps bringing in crowds.

It’s a fluffy little confection that grew out of a line of greeting cards featuring nuns saying funny things. Their author (Goggin) expanded them into a cabaret show that was set to run for four days and ran for 38 weeks and then became a full-length production. It’s the second-longest Off-Broadway production in history, after The Fantasticks. Ww’re told the show is “habit forming.” (Groan.) If you think that’s funny, this is the show for you: an improbable farce involving an order of nuns trying to raise money to bury other nubs accidentally killed by tainted vichyssoise. Lots of zany stuff happens.

That zany stuff will be happening on the stage of Porthouse Theatre on the Blossom Music Center Stage for the next two weekend. Go here for tickets.
