07.10.24 Oahua at City Stages, Cleveland Museum of Art

Wed 7/10

The Cleveland Museum of Art kicked off its 2024 of global music performances called City Stages, but unfortunately not at the outdoor street stage outside the Transformer Station in Ohio City. Rain nixed that plan and the concert by Mexican vocalist/percussionist/electronics artist Pahua and her band was relocated indoors to the museum’s spacious Ames Family Atrium. Luckily that space is plenty big enough for the kind of dancing Papua’s energetic music evokes. It’s an engaging mixture of techno dance beats and Latino-influenced sounds. She was ably backed by a percussionist and guitarist who helped drive the sound as the audience gyrated happily.
