Opera at the Italian Garden Offers Familiar Arias & Folk Tunes Al Fresco – for Free

Sun 7/28 @ 6-7:30PM

The annual Opera in the Italian Garden event, taking place at the multi-level Italian Cultural Garden in Rockefeller Park, is as much about the experience as the music. The music, performed by members of the Cleveland Opera (formerly Cleveland Opera Circle) and guest artists, includes familiar arias (you can count on a “Nessun Dorma” performance), Broadway tunes, and popular Italian folk tunes such as “Mama.”

But what you want to do is pack an elegant picnic and bring a blanket to spread it out on (reserved seating is already sold out but there’s plenty of room on the large lawn for your blanket or folding chairs). In recent years, the Cleveland Ballet has also joined them for a few numbers. There’s usually a pizza vendor and wine bar too, but the line is likely to be long so if you don’t like waiting, bring your own!

It’s free.
