Ohio’s Tax Holiday Expanded to Ten Days and Now Applies to Restaurants

Tue 7/30 @ midnight-Thu 8/8 @ 11:59PM

For several years, Ohio has had a three-day tax holiday in mid-summer to help people and families pay for back-to-school needs.

This year, that has been expanded to ten days — and for the first time, it will include restaurants in addition to retail outlets, due to provision in the most recent Ohio budget bill. The tax holiday takes place from Tuesday July 30 @ 12am to Thursday August 8 @ 11:59pm. All restaurant tabs of up to $500 are tax-free, although a larger bill may not be split among parties, but discounts or coupons that reduce the tab to under $500 may be used. Alcoholic beverages are not included.
