Lakewood Arts Festival Is Packed With Art, Music, Food and Much More

Sat 8/3 @ 10AM-6PM

The 47th annual Lakewood Arts Festival in downtown Lakewood is a day packed with opportunities to see and purchase art — mostly local and regional with a few from outside the Midwest — in virtually every style and medium you can think of: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, fiber, glass, metal, wood, and that arts fest standby, jewelry.

Despite the number of visual artists, this festival is about way more than art. You can catch some music and other entertainment (poetry readings, improv theater) on three stages, including such noted area performers as singer/songwriters Charlie Mosbrook and Chris Allen, neo-soul singer Charity Evonna, folk rockers Maura Rogers & the Bellows, gypsy jazz ensemble Hot Club of Cleveland, classic music boundary pushers Opus 216, swamp rockers Cats on Holiday, propulsively melodic Moon Echo Garden and more. And the Beck Center hosts hands-on art activities all day for those who’d rather make than look as well as pottery demonstrations. And there’ll be info booths from a range of local organizations including the Lakewood League of Women Voters who will be glad to register you to vote or update your voter information — essential this year!

Of course you’ll need to grab some food. There’ll be a bunch of food trucks parked at Detroit and Arthur as well as ice cream and lemonade standards but this area has one of the densest concentrations of eateries in northeast Ohio so you won’t go hungry.

Admission is free.
