Future Ink Graphics Show Spotlights Black Culture and Traditions

Sat 7/20 @ noon-6PM

The new show going on view at Future Ink Graphics’ gallery on Friday July 12 is called Traditions: Breaking Bread. In it 14 artists look at African-American traditions from different angles, exploring celebrations, community meals and other shared spaces.

“The act of breaking bread, a universal symbol of fellowship and trust, is integral to these gatherings,” they say. “It signifies sharing, unity, and mutual respect, and this exhibition delves into how such rituals have been woven into the fabric of African American culture. Historically, these moments have represented commitment and held high cultural value, dating back to times of enslavement and even biblical references.”

Artists included in show are Ewuresi Archer, Monique Biggers, Julissa Bruno, CHIMI, Kenyatta Crisp, Ryan Harris, Sydney Nicole Kay, Chinedu Ogbo, Jennifer Price, Theadis Reagins, LaSaundra Robinson, Robin Robinson, Jerome White and Gary Williams, representing a wide range of ages and experiences.

The show’s reception is on the closing day, Saturday July 20 from noon-6pm, when it hosts a Black Arts Showcase with live screen printing, an open mic, a panel discussion, an acting workshop and an art vendors market. The event is free and open to all.
