City Stages in Ohio City Presents Haitian-Canadian Musician Wesli

Wed 7/17 @ 7:30-9PM

The City Stages global music series, sponsored by the Cleveland Museum of Art, is one of the most reliably exciting musical events of the summer. Taking place on a big outdoor stage at the intersection of East 29th and Church in Ohio City’s Hingetown neighborhood, over the years it’s featured musicians and bands from every corner of the world.

For the second of the three shows this summer, Wesli will be making its Cleveland debut. The six-piece “party band” is fronted by Haitian-born Canadian Wesley Louissaint who brings his native roots including voudou (not the pins-in-dolls New Orleans tourist kind but a syncretic polytheistic faith deeply embedded in the island’s culture) to a music that also incorporates Afrobeat and hip hop.  He’s won a bunch of world music awards in Canada and toured both North and South America, as well as Europe.

The concert is free; bring your folding camp chair to set up in the closed-off street or just plan to be up on your feet dancing all evening.
