The Cain Park Arts Festival is one of the nicest art experiences in northeast Ohio, with artist booths comfortably spaced out along the park’s tree-shaded paths. Now in its 47th year, it offers more than 130 local, regional and national artists working in almost any medium you can name — painting, drawing, prints, photography, collage, sculpture, ceramics, glass, wood, mixed media and tons of jewelry, of course. While much of the word is predictable — it seems like almost all the photographers specialize in landscapes — you never know when you’ll stumble on something that speaks to you in a special way.
The festival also features food trucks and concession stands, mural painting for all ages and live entertainment in the pavilion. And the entertainment is A+ this year. On Friday veteran Youngstown singer/songwriter JD Eicher plays from 3-4pm, and northeast Ohio alt country band, the Shootouts, fresh from their fifth appearance at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry and steadily growing their national fan base, will play from 4:30-6:30pm.
On Saturday, powerful young R&B singer Charity Evonna will perform from 11am-2pm, followed by one of the area’s hottest up-and-coming young bands, LoConti, from 3-6pm, playing their contemporary rock music with a strong classic rock influence. On Sunday East Wind will play from 1-4pm.
Since the pandemic the festival has been free on all three days.
