When Cleveland artist/polymath Georgio Sabino III opened the second of his two current shows at Deep Roots Experience Gallery in Fairfax (the other is currently at the Cleveland Botanical Garden), the room was filled with cameras — it seemed like everyone was taking photos of everyone else taking photos.
There was a lot to take photos of. In addition to Sabino’s photo-based work on silk, cotton and satin, with an augmented reality provided by his cousin Rachel Thompson, and a collaborative painting with Ghanaian artist Nana Kwesi Agyare, Sabino crafted a dozen fashion looks, many of them incorporating his images printed on fabric. A quick-changing model sashayed around the room demonstrating the beauty of the cut, materials and patterns. The show will be on view through June 15.

I am deeply grateful for your appreciation of my diverse pieces on display. My work on silk, cotton, and satin, enhanced by the augmented reality experience crafted by my cousin Rachel Thompson, to the collaborative painting with the talented Ghanaian artist Nana Kwesi Agyare, each artists enthusiasm meant so much to me. The fashion show, featuring designs that incorporated my images printed on fabric ( Artistic Jungle Series with Augmented Reality (AR) Digital Mixed Media with Painting & Photography), was a highlight of the evening.
