Musicians and Dancers Present Improvisational Performance at Nature Center at Shaker Lakes

Composer/keyboard player Matt Kiroff has a diverse and expansive musical background that includes extensive studies in avant-garde jazz, as well as folk and classical music, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a PhD from Cornell University. He’s known for spearheading multi-disciplinary performance events, many of them under the name of his ensemble The Pith and Root of Sleep, which incorporate film, dance, visual art, performance art and installations.

For his next public performance, a sub-group of The Pith and Root of Sleep called the Kiroff/Spuzzillo Camerata which does contemporary improvisations on period instruments. Kiroff will be playing a harpsichord-like instrument called the virginal while Tyler Spuzzillo will play classical guitar. They’ll be joined by dancers Sarah Holmes Villaneuva and Morgan Ashley.

The performance takes place at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes.
