Once again, Canalway is hosting its River Rally to bring people down to the banks of the Cuyahoga River and make them aware of all the recreational opportunities it offers, now that it’s not always on fire and filled with oil, grease and debris (OK, a little debris. Pick up your trash!)
The event takes place at Hart Crane Park on the East Bank, next to Merwin’s Wharf. There you’ll find a festival village with a beer garden, various activities including yoga and kids’ crafts, and music by Cleveland/Brazilian guitarist/vocalist Luca Mundaca, alt country/Americana band Rachel Brown and the Beatnik Playboys, and eclectic duo Sunflurry, featuring cellist Suki Kuehn and guitarist/vocalist/drummer Ruby Rendrag.
All of that will be fun, but the real fun is getting to explore the area and the river. There’ll be walking, biking and kayaking tours, and boat rides to see the river from various perspectives. Come down early for Yoga at 10am; the village opens at 11. Tours and boat rides are on a first-come first-serve basis, and you can register for them here.
