Local Experimental Percussionist Paul Stranahan Performs a Solo Show at the Treelawn

Sat 6/8 @ 8PM

Cleveland musician Paul Stranahan is known for his adventurous approach to percussion, using his array of instruments, including drums, marimbas, gongs, singing bowls and aluphone (a set of tuned aluminum bells struck with mallets) in a variety of often improvisational or semi-improvisational contexts. He’s led several groups of his own and performs frequently with guitarist Tim Mirth as the experimental duo Night Terrors. He’s also collaborated on recordings with others of the elite of Cleveland avant-garde musicians including electronic musician Lisa Miralia, harpist Stephan Haluska and multi-instrumentalist Mike Hovancsek.

He’ll be bringing his gongs, singing bowls and aluphone to the Treelawn Social Club on Waterloo for a solo performance that’s partly improvised and partly his own compositions.
