Fiber Artist Talks About Her Work with Fellow Fiber Artist at Abattoir Gallery

Mon 7/1 @ 6PM

Cleveland-born artist Eleanor Anderson has lived, studied, worked and exhibited her work across the country, and now her work has come back home for her first gallery show at Cleveland’s Abattoir Gallery in the Hildebrandt Building.

The show, titled Irregular Around the Margins, features new large-scale felt and fabric collages constructed from a riot of textiles, trimming and found items such as beads, balls and ropes, connected through hand and machine embroidery to create evocative layers and contrasting textures.

“Anderson pits intricately crafted moments against sculptural gestures, creating pieces that initially read as overall compositions but challenge the viewer to a game of eye spy,” we’re told.

This week, you can hear Anderson discuss her work in a talk with Praxis Fiber Workship founder/director Jessica Pinsky. The two will also talk about the contemporary fiber arts scene and where it’s going (Pinksy herself is also a practicing fiber artist.) It’s free and open to all.

Anderson’s show will be on view at Abattoir through July 27.
