Enjoy Roma Jazz Under the Stars at Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Fri 6/7 @ 7:30-9:30PM

As part of the ENCORE-Gates Mills Music & Ideas Festival, described as “a summer season of arts-inspired learning through chamber music,” New York-based Finnish guitarist Olli Soikkeli will be performing a program with the deliciously romantic title, “Roma Jazz on a Starry Night.”

That’s literally what it will be though, when Soikkeli and his cohorts, rhythm guitarist Brad Brose, bassist Paul Sikivie and clarinetist/sax player Evan Arntzen perform al fresco at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Kendall Lake Shelter, playing the style of Django Reinhardt-influenced music more commonly known as “gypsy jazz.” It’s a style that Soikkeli cites as his major influence even before he moved to New York ten years ago at the age of 23.

The evening opens with a conversation with CVNP president/CEO Deb Yandala. Following intermission. the quartet will perform what’s described as “a transcendent fusion of music and nature, set within the captivating embrace of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, underneath the canopy of a star-strewn sky.”

Get tickets here. Students are free.
